PLACER COUNTY STRs

STRs are Short Term Rentals and the Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) on these units is vital to our area. The TOT funds help the area in various ways and keeping those funds flowing is important, however these STRs burden our area in various ways. STRs take away housing from locals and break apart neighborhoods. Currently there is a cap on on STRs which is an indiscriminate blunt instrument but has been a step in the right direction.

In an effort to help the workforce housing crisis we need a well balanced approach to STRs vs. a blanket cut or geo fencing. Categories of STRs should be established and then limitations set on STRs based on the specifics of each category and various relevant facts.
